Transitioning Your Wardrobe Into Spring

Happy Friday, gals!! This week seemed to really drag and I blame it mostly on this crazy weather we have been having. One day it looked like Elsa from Frozen came through, the next we are having thunderstorms, and now we are back to ice and snow! I don't know about you, but I am more than ready for spring. There is just something about hearing the birds chirp in the morning and the smell of fresh air.

Since moving to the north, it has been so hard transitioning my wardrobe, but I think I am getting it! It seems like we really don't have a spring or fall because it goes form hot to cold and cold to hot so it can be tricky when planning what to wear for the day. If you are in the same boat as me, I think I have a few tips to help a girl out! I am not a pro whatsoever so please be kind! HA!

So, what I have found to help transition is switching from cozy(thick) cardigans to flowy(thin) cardigans. The one pictured above is perfect to transition! Thanks to Suite 41 Boutique for sending me this. It's SO beautiful! This helps when the temps are a little cooler in the morning, but become warmer in the afternoon. You can also pair your flowy cardi with a thin long sleeve tee for a little extra warmth or if it's going to be a little warmer, just go with a tee. Cardigans are such a huge staple item in my closet because you can literally wear them year round!

I have found that wearing cute sweatshirts or thinner sweaters are a great option if cardigans are not your thing. Having a warm coat during the winter in the north is a must but they can be too warm for spring. A lightweight jacket is your friend if you are wearing a top that still requires a little warmth when you are outside. Utility jackets are really in right now! I have my eye on this blush one, go figure! ;)

You might as well give up shorts because  those aren't coming out til at least May if you live in the northern states. I just stick with denim and leggings. I think dresses are ok especially if they are long sleeve or if you pair it with a cardigan/blazer. This is the same for skirts. Pairing the dress or skirt with booties is perfect for a little extra warmth.

Since we are bringing up shoes, that is such a tough one for me because as soon as the weather hits 60 degrees or higher, I am bringing out my Tory Burch sandals(the pair shown in picture above) and it's hard for me to switch back to my snow boots! The first couple of years, I made the mistake of wearing sandals when the temps were going to reach 60 that day and my feet were cold all day because it didn't get 60 til late afternoon. My preference is just waiting til the temps are cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Perforated booties are a great option if you are looking to switch up your shoe game for spring!

I hope these tips helped out a little. These are just my preferences and I am sure every woman is different! Hope you have a great weekend!

Wear it Wednesday // Fav Tee on Sale and Styled Multiple Ways

Hi friends! It has been a week since I have written a blog post :( but I wanted to quickly say thank you SO much for your response from my last blog post on marriage/relationships. It was my most read post and I had so many of you reach out and thank me for being so open. If that is the kind of post you guys want to read, I will definitely start sharing more!

I didn't even plan on writing a post today, but after my babe, Jennifer from thesisterstudioig, shared the sale that is going on our fav tee, I had to share with you all and how I have styled it. I wear the striped tee weekly, sometimes twice, because it's that good! Comes in many colors, which I own all except one, oops! Lol. So this is going to be short and sweet! I would suggest ordering your normal size if you want it oversized, which I did and ordered an XS, or order a size down for a more fitted fit. If you are wanting to order, I would definitely order now because they are going fast. Not sure because warmer weather is coming, don't worry! This tee is thin enough to definitely wear year round.

Valentine's Day // Put Your Da*n Phone Away!

Happy Valentine's Day or not if you don't believe in celebrating, which is totally ok. I have always loved Valentine's Day, not because of the flowers, candy, and gifts, but because it's one day to really remind your significant other that you truly love them. Now you may be thinking, "they know and I know so I don't need a day to remind or be reminded." That may be true, but if you really think about it, do you really remind your significant other that you truly love them and vice versa?

Being a millenial, yes I am one of those annoying people and you are too if you were born after 1981, we are SO wrapped up in ourselves and social media that we often forget to show our love to those that really matter. I am guilty of it, my husband is guilty, and you probably are too. I am not saying that it's necessarily a bad thing, but don't you find it a little disturbing that we long for "likes" and "loves" from other people sitting behind that computer and cell phone, while the person that truly matters it sitting right beside you?! Ringing a bell, yet?

My husband and I have been together almost 12 years and a majority of those years, he has shown his love a little more than usual on Valentine's Day by spoiling me with flowers and candy. Did you notice I said a majority? Yeah, trust me, they all haven't been pretty. Just a couple years ago, I didn't want any flowers, candy, or even him to look at me on Valentine's Day. Marriage is so damn hard especially when one is only thinking of themselves and going through a terrible time in their life. Just when life feels like it is over, you have great life changing experience that brings you and you husband back together and stronger than ever. Amazing isn't it?!

Marriages aren't supposed to be perfect because they would be boring. You will have arguments, life issues, people who are against you (who really have no room to talk because there are some huge skeletons in those closets that would ruin their marriage), but then you have high moments that make it better again. That's life. That's marriage.

This post is not meant to make you feel like a bad wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend, but just a friendly reminder that even though you may think your Valentine knows you love them, remind them. Get her those grocery store flowers (may fav), write her a sweet message in a card, remind him how amazing he is (men love hearing that lol), buy him that cool new gadget he has been talking about. Better yet, just put your damn phone away and show them, tell them how much they mean to you. That truly is the best gift you could give someone.

Happy Valentine's Day, friends!

Wear it Wednesday // Valentine's Day

Hi friends! I have really been on the struggle bus lately with these blog posts and I truly apologize. We have been so busy lately and I believe I still have the January blues. It has been so cold here and we have almost a foot of snow on the ground, so it's just depressing around here. I am more than ready for spring so we can be outside more and I can start taking more pics for the blog. It's hard to take pictures when it's -10 and a foot of snow on the ground. BUT one thing I am looking forward to is Valentines Day, which is one week from today! 💑

To be honest, my husband and I will probably be cuddled up on the couch with our three boys watching a movie, which is totally ok with me! My mom is visiting this weekend so we may sneak in an early Valentine's date. Since we don't have big plans for love day, I thought I would share a super simple, but cute, Valentine's look for those of you that are in the same love boat as me. I actually love the way this look turned out and how comfy it is!

I have had this blush sweater for months now and have worn it so much! When I ordered this cute peplum top a few weeks ago, I knew it would be perfect for Valentines Day! It is a little long, which is great for leggings, so I decided to pair with my favorite blush sweater. Tied the sweater in a knot so the peplum showed more, paired it with leggings, these $12.99 pink mules that match perfectly with the peplum top, and a cute pair of red heart sunnies just for show! 😉 I don't know about you, but I 😍 this look! Hope you have a lovely Valentines Day!

I have linked each item so you can have this cozy Valentine's look!

XOXO,

Jen Miracle
