Makeover Monday // Blondie

Well hello there ladies! It has been so long since I have done a "Makeover Monday" post and I am so excited about writing this one! I have received so many messages about my hair so I thought I would do a post about how I maintain my blonde hair. I recently went a little lighter for the summer and I am LOVING it! My hairdresser never disappoints and delivers every single time I am in that chair! Since I went lighter, it means the maintenance is going to change a little from what I was doing this winter.

When it comes to being a blondie, I am very familiar with what comes with it. I know that is a process when going from your natural hair color(if it is darker) to all over blonde. It definitely doesn't happen overnight  so if you are looking to go blonde, be patient. My natural hair color is a light brown, so my hair does SO well when I go lighter. If you have darker hair, it is going to take longer, but you will eventually get there. I have been almost every single color you can think of! Blonde, brown, dark brown, red, dark purple, etc., but I always come back to blonde.

I will say that being blonde does take a lot of maintenance and does damage to your hair so if you have been thinking about it, just want to warn you! Since I have been doing the darker balayage to my hair for the past year, my hair was healthy before going lighter this time. I have been known to have VERY damaged hair from hair extensions and being so blonde. This was totally my fault because I took the extensions out myself and I was losing chunks of hair. DO NOT ever take them out yourself! Lol. It took years for my hair to recover.

My best advice about being blonde is make sure to use great products since your hair will damage from the bleach. I am not a hair dresser or expert so I am just going to share what products have worked for me while being blonde. I swear by these products! I also do not wash my hair everyday. I typically wash it twice a week, sometimes three.

Using a purple shampoo will help keep the "brassy, yellow" tint out of your hair. I use this every time I wash my hair and leave on for about 5-10 minutes. Do not use more than twice a week because your hair will start turning purple! It is very affordable and  I have been using for 10 years! SO good!

I also use this shampoo and conditioner set while I am blonde. I use the shampoo before using my purple shampoo, then after using the purple shampoo, I condition. Love the smell and the way it keeps my hair soft!

I also use a hair mask every other week! I love this one! It is so affordable and has SO many great reviews!

After washing my hair, I spray this AMAZING leave-in conditioner in my hair and brush out. It smells like heaven and will make your hair SO soft!

When I am in between washes, I use a dry shampoo and I have a few that I love. Again VERY affordable. This one is a texturing dry shampoo and smells great! This one is my favorite but is a bit pricey! I use this on special occasions. Lol.

I also swear by this hairbrush! I have fine hair so it tends to get tangled but this helps so much and doesn't pull my hair out! HA!

Well girlies that is about it when it comes to maintaining my blonde hair. Again, I am no expert and different things work for different people. If you have any questions, please feel free to email, leave a comment, or DM on Instagram.

Here are some fun throwback pictures of my hair over the years. I was dark for my wedding which I regret! I wish I would have been blonde!

XOXO,
